C. Options
Three options are available, each requiring at least 36 graduate hours at UTSA: (year + summer)

1. 1 + 2 - Twelve hours in the fall and spring semester and six hours each of two summers.

2.  2 + 2 - Six hours in the fall and spring semester for two years and six hours each of two summers.

3.  3 + 3 - Three hours in the fall and spring semester for three years and six hours each of three summers.

F. Financial Assistance

Several scholarships are usually available as well as half-time teaching assistantships in ecology, genetics or general biology. Teaching assistantships pay approx. $10,300 for nine months (2 semesters and 20 hr. /week). Non-residents, who are teaching assistants or students on some scholarships, pay resident tuition and fees.

G. Requirements

Interest in plants and animals.

B.S. degree in Biology or similar area with courses in general biology, genetics, physiology, biochemistry and ecology.

One and one-half years of chemistry, one year of physics and calculus or statistics.

Grade point average of 3.0 or better.

GRE Scores submitted.

Two letters of recommendation.
